Last night, I was searching (in vain) for an english scanlation, preview, anything of the series Ray, from book four onwards.By chance, I stumbled upon the fact that THIS SERIES IS AVAIBLE IN FRENCH. The entire series! It was only ever translated into english for three books, and yet the complete series is translated in French. This is a major victory- at least us english-speaking folk can understand the alphabet, and a translator is easier to find for French (if you live in Canada, at least!).So my curiousity was aroused. Firstly, how many other people have been met with obstacles simmilar to this? And secondly, is there anywhere which this manga could be PURCHASED IF POSSIBLE but otherwise obtained?PS- Though it's probably available in english, Akihito's Eat Man is also available in French. Side note there. 3qrv

From what i know, the manga is farely big in , so theres plunty of the stuff there, some of which have yet to be tranlated into english and ones that have, but they're farther in. Also there are scanlations done on manga using the french tranlated version, just like a good amount if not alot of scanlations actually are scanlations of the chiness tranlation of the mangas. Personaly i must rather people translate from the original source then a translation of anouther translation, who knows what could be getting lost there :/.

Lezard, I must agree with your last point, I do prefer the original source translated.
However, this manga is one in which I am willing to make some sacrifices.

Hehe, I can answer to that. When you can read French, you have access to a second world of scanlations!

Just some titles that are more advanced in French scans than English scans :

Yureka (6-7 volumes in english), 24+ in French
Koukou Tekkenden Tough (2 volumes English), 42 volumes in French
Psychometrer Eiji : 12 volumes English, 23 volumes French
Saru Lock : 2 vol english, 11 volumes French
Bastard! : 10 vol English, lots in French
Young GTO : 9 vol English, 31 volumes French

Of course, the english scan world remains much bigger, but like I said, it's a second world.

Funny you should say that. Here in Canada, a 'bilingual' nation, there are still many who can't adequately speak, read, or write french at all. I only ever received a fundamental level myself, and can't read much more than children's books very well at all!

When you learn another language, you do it because it's useful to you. English is useful to me in too many ways =)
I'm still learning English, but I am learning some Japanese too, because being able to understand just a bit more than nothing is great 🙂

Since English is so dominant, most people won't bother learning a second one, and I can understand that.

Umm... Are there any French translation groups? I'm fluent in French and I'd be willing to translate them as long as I have the French scans and people who can edit and etc... I can only translate so if there are people who are capable of doing the rest I would gladly translate them 🙂 . Keep in mind I can only go from French - English vice versa English - Spanish vice versa and Spanish - French
