I didn't really know what was good, so I bought Mixxzine which had a couple of popular titles Sailor Moon, Parasyte, MK Rayearth. 1s5a1d

I don't think I've ever 'entered the manga world' I might own a couple hundreds comics but that was from a time where all of that media was in a scarcity and the internet resources available today were not at your fingertips.

the majority of titles were released by Dark Horse or Viz, and none of them have appreciated in value 1 cent save for Ghost in the Shell issues

I'm still an anime 1st devotee, which is to say an abomination; unapologetically so.

In the 90's I managed to get some Angel Sanctuary- that I definitely entered in the manga world and became a regular reader.

Ranma 1/2 before, but those were flipped to read like a western comic.

My first was InuYasha ?. I checked it out when I was out on my weekly run to buy Witch comics as a kid and got hooked.

Kimagure Orange Road and Maison Ikkoku back in the mid 2000s.
But at the root were all the J-animes that were broadcast on TV when I was a kid (before my country put a ban because you know violence, meh) : the two mentioned above, Ranma 1/2, Hokuto no Ken, Dragon Ball, Saint Seya, ... Funny and probably not uncommon thing is that what I loved back then (shounen, action) I now hate and what I loathed (romance, drama, josei) I now prefer.

I started off browsing on OneManga, though I wasn't really too into it. Just viewed spoilers for Naruto or something because I was much more into anime at the time.

My girlfriend back then noticed, and suggested I read Liar Game. Didn't exactly like it very much but it did open me up to the idea of reading more manga series out there.

Oof, can't really say what's my very first manga, but the one that made me want to explore the whole manga landscape (or at least the Kirara one, because i enjoy the magazines) is Yumekui Merry.

I had heard that it was WAY BETTER than the anime and readed it to see if that was true.

And yes, it was pretty damm good.

I don't really what the first manga I read was, but I used to really be obsessed with the Pokémon series and games and I liked to get that manga series from the library.

I also reading a little Yotsuba& but l didn't ever finish it. I'm pretty sure anime got me into manga lastly, but I do have to owe it to the manga I read when I was young ?.

“Maka Maka” was my first and was the reason I got obsessed with Yuri, at that time I didn’t understand tags so the second manga I read was “Trash” which almost put me off manga altogether simply because of the rape and murder (naïveté is a blessing, now I’m just a corrupted manga enthusiast).

I started with early US Shonen Jump - DBZ, Narooto, Yu-Gi-Oh etc. I'd blaze through those in one sitting, but I lost interest after a while. Later, I started watching Anime Abandon and got into all those sleazy 90's anime, and got curious about their manga sources. After reading insanity like Riki-Oh, I was hooked.

My first manga was Recca no Honoo and that was the first manga series that I followed and bought every month. I used almost 80% of my monthly allowance at that time just to buy some manga every month haha.. Time goes so fast..
