Male-lead romance with actual controversy 463xx

I'm looking for a romance with a male lead that actually has some story to it. I'm quite tired of the typical shounen romance, and I'd read shoujo but I can't stand having the main character a female, as close-minded as that seems. In other words, I'd prefer a main character that isn't a hopeless loser that has no likable traits that seems to make females fall for him for no reason at all. Anyone have an idea? Much appreciated! =] 1b332k

Why not read shoujo with male leads?

I second sora no otoshimono I love the protagonist, he's awesome!!! But now that I think about it he just seems like a prevert with his moments... A rec it anyway.
An instant or an eternity. Both are the same, in the ing of an instant lies the beauty of eternity.

Thanks very much for that Akari! As for bitter virgin and Unbalancex2 I've read them both. I really liked bitter virgin. Unbalancex2 has been on a hiatus for over a year, though, I believe. I will check out sora no otoshimono, thanks!

Seconded. Quite a story to this one.
This is shounen, but you also might want to try Pretty Face.

Seen all of adachi's mangas/animes. He's a genius at perfectly balancing two genres, unfortunately his mangas tend to end with a far too open ending, considering the romance in them are generally never developed much throughout the series except in a few chapters. Meh, can't be picky though. Your first recommendation, flawful, sounds interesting though. I'm definitely gonna read that. Thanks again, all!

smash! is a pretty good sports romance, and it doesn't take the male lead 80 chapters to finally ask the female counterpart out.
