definitely! i love japan~~!! 😀
And I thought asking WHY in the first post would help.probably been spammed in the face by the "awesomeness" of japan through manga and anime when in reality it probably isn't all that it's cracked up to be. For "gaijin" like us manga=propaganda 😛
It's not. Like hell anime and manga would diss their own country. 🙄 And of course, Japanese people are the readers. They don't need have their own country's flaws pushed at their face. xenophobia ftl
And here people are STILL ignoring my "WHY" question.
The poll so far makes me freaking cry.
Alright, WHY WOULDNT I live in japan? for one I dont know the language, secondly I'll feel extremely claustrophobic (even tho i like the city),
I can find you lots of reasons to answer that question. n.n
Let me find a link for you~

I'd be very interesting in visiting, but there's no way I'd decide to move to a country I've never even visited. I'm well aware of a lot of the negative as well as positive aspects of living in Japan, but goodness, there are plenty of negative as well as positive aspects of living ANYwhere!
Japanese culture is very interesting, and I love the language, what I've learned of it - unfortunately I doubt I'll get much farther in learning the language without being in a situation where I'm exposed to it on a daily basis. 😔

Not at all, I'm quite happy where I am.
Japan isn't all fabbu, even if I knew the language I don't think I'd move there.
I think the best thing about living over there would be the access to CDs~ 🤣

The reasons I've thought of moving to Japan is because I live in the U.S. If that's not enough of a reason then I'll explain. My mother is Mexican and my dad is a "race traitor." I've had to deal with skin heads, kkk and other racist since I was about 4 years old. Now, it's one thing to have your common, everyday people as racist and another to have a racist government. All the hypocritical and ignorant things that are happing now just make me want to pack up and leave. I know Japan has its problems and the people have a thing about foreigners (fortunately, my black hair, short height and pale skin should help me blend in) but I'm willing to try and find a home elsewhere. Besides, I want to get a taste of something a bit different than the Western World (though I know Japan is head in that direction). The culture, food and proximity to other places with different people and cultures makes Japan an appealing place for someone like me who wants a bit of adventure in life.
Also, I want a bishonen for a pet 😀
Cogito Ergo Sum (I think, therefore I am)
I wouldn't mind moving to Japan for a while just cause it's Japan but I wouldn't move there permanently because I love Canada. But I definitely wanna go there some day and just explore life there, see if it's really like what mangas show it to be.

Build up money, go to japan, buy tons of figures (since I cant read nor speak japanese, so manga and anime are out) stay for some time, and then go back home

Probably not. I wouldn't mind staying a couple years but from people I've talked to the gaijin thing never really goes away. Loved visiting but I think living there would frustrate me over time.
- no land, expensive small apartments, conservative government, not a lot of vegan food, always standing out, too humid during the rainy season in most of Japan, and their streets are incredibly confusing -

I can barely understand the social oddities of the culture I've been immersed in since birth. Getting a new set of social guidelines would just freak me out. Plus from the manga I read I get all sorts of mixed messages about how sexist society is in Japan. 😕

I'll probably end up moving there for a year or two at least to teach English, and spend a year there on foreign exchange. Probably nothing permanent though, although I'm 60-70% certain I'll end up somewhere other than the US. So maybe an extended stay? Regardless, I didn't vote in the poll because the two "yes" answers have an edge I don't really like.
Before anyone freaks out, I actually have valid, non-anime/manga related reasons for doing so. The first is simply that I don't like the US, and the images and stereotypes associated with it worldwide. The second is that I think that living in a country where you aren't a native speaker for an extended period of time is a valuable experience, and the only other language I have any proficiency in is Japanese, sadly. The third is my long time Japanese history obsession (I've had a thing for samurai since I was in 3rd or 4th grade) that lead to my study of Japanese and interest in anime and manga in the first place.
As to the actual environment in Japan, I don't really mind the whole gaijin thing. Yes, I have been there (only for a month) and despite the obvious attention that foreigners get even in areas like Shinjuku, I was never really bothered. That's probably just because I'm introverted and easily get lost in thought though.

yes!
Just out of curiosity. maybe 5 years is a good amount of time to spend in Japan, then i'd move somewhere else, just like what I am doing now. I can definitely say I am a professional in of moving from one country to another. Or go to my dream city Paris (maybe when i'm old and tired).
Why 5 years? I think by 5 years i would have been accustomed to all the things. All the good, all the bad. Especially the bad hehehe. What is soapland? What is shinjuku? What is this what is that? Where sould i go to eat "sushi"? Muahahaha 😀
