Trash of the Count’s Family(TCF) is the typical shounen "nakama" novel. Its riddled with overused cliche troupes but this will appeal to some readers. Personally i find it hard to immerse myself into the story and struggle to maintain interest further in. 5f6545
In TCF the protagonist is transmigrated into the novel he was reading thus has knowledge about future events. Unfortunately TCF did a poor job...
Theres a couple of demonic cultivator master reincarnated and became the good guy but with PTSD kinda manga & novels out there but this one is different in that it has a slice of life mixed in.
I generally don't like the bad guy turn over a new leaf and maybe the past catches up to him, that whole shenanigan. The whole story and premise more often than not feels so contrived with boring narrative...
Pretty mediocre. Just your average wuxia story with MC dies(seems like he used to like a in modern post apocalyptic world, since there were guns and vehicles) but is transported to Zhou Dynasty cultivator world and has a cheat system where he can collect points to open loot boxes(which have like 50% chance for good drops lol).
So far the plotline has been about taking over other gangs and...
I have to give it to the author for creating an interesting setting. Its a world with a mix of multiple character genre, regressor, reincarnator, isekai/returnees and the likes. You'll see lots of mythology and historical characters and locations thrown in from Asgard, Olympus to Vedas, Eden, Sengoku War, Romance of the 3 Kingdoms, Journey to the West and many more. They all appear as worlds in...
Probably one of the better chinese novels out there. Its not perfect, but its by far way above in quality compared to the many other trash chinese novels out there.
For the Positives:
I love the occult and lovecraft themes in it along with the focus on the mystery aspect. Its a refreshing change from the usual xianxia, xuanhuan, transmigrator, regressor etc themes plaguing the current trends...
From the manga title i expected something new, refreshing and good but it turns out to be shounen trash with high levels of ecchi and some comedy.
Female lead is the atypical damsel in distress who is useless and gullible.
The male lead, i really expect something incredible out of him, maybe superior intellect, wisdom to think out of the box, cunning and guile etc cos you know, he is the reputed...
Its an interesting take on the xuanhuan and fantasy genre. It feels more of slice of life with episodic arcs rather than a having a concrete main plot as a whole. However theres quite a lot of wasted potential as author did not take advantage of the fascinating setting and premise he created.
Most likely the high ratings are due to readers who have only read the first few hundred chapters of the...
Story is a mesh of historical with a Wuxia touch and takes place during the Tang Dynasty. Protagonist transported from our world to this semi-fictional world, dies in apocalypse, turns back time and reincarnated in the past again.
I'll start with the positive.
The story setting is good, ancient china Tang Dynasty during the An Lushan Rebellion which kinda takes the center stage. Author crafted...
Premise: Protagonist able to travel between his own world(our modern world) and fantasy medieval world of swords and bows(not sure if theres magic) filled with elves, beastmen and such. He ends up taking ownership of a declining city and decides to improve the quality of life and living conditions by implementing technology and knowledge from our world. Also end up abolishing prejudice of non...
Went in without much expectations but was pleasantly surprised. No doubt theres lots of manga with the same theme but this one was enjoyable. Its not the best but its scores reasonably well in my books. This manhwa borrows a lot of concepts from other manga of its genre with a twist of its own which made it an interesting read. I'm tempted to spoil it but just this is worth a read.
In all honesty,...
Modern world turns into a fantasy sci-fi mmorpg. A few chosen get awakening with abilities, magic, stats akin to a rpg and have to fight against monsters that start spawning into our world. Our protagonist was a normal human however an incident cause him to suddenly recover memories of his live as a powerful mage from another fantasy world thus he also awakens. Using knowledge from his previous...
Has a unique concept but so far the chapters have been kinda boring. Doesn't help that the art style is simplistic and amateurish so it doesn't go well with the action scenes but then again it has light hearted vibe and leans a bit to the comedy tag(though the jokes aren't funny at all, mostly lame). Am looking forward how the story unfolds though current chapters aren't promising.
To be honest, its basically a copy paste of every other Xianxia content out there. Thats not to say its bad, there are audience for even the most mundane literature. I've read a good spread of Xianxia and Xuanhuan, so far nothing new or interesting for this manhua. However for enthusiast of this genre, they will like it cos it has the typical themes of Xianxia novels.
Revenge is the theme for this...
SV might have been a decent read. Despite having somewhat of a cliche plot, the backstory has potential, the pacing is reasonably comfortable and does not drag subplots nor flooded with fillers but it has a big issue with consistency & cohesion as a whole which kinda reflects the amateurish writing style.
Author keeps throwing in random plot ideas anytime he wants, the entire narrative lacks a...
Doesn't take a genius to know this manhua is pretty much dumb. Below average ratings across the board. Even the mediocre and cliche xianxia/xuanhuan manhuas put up a more interesting read. Nothing redeeming qualities about this. All in all the point of this manhua is to satisfy ones delusional chuunibyou needs. Not saying its wrong so read it if you got an itch to scratch.
Novel reminds me of the manga "Kingdom", battles are basically huge scale war where tactics & strategy, charismatic leaders and the camaraderie with their men are the focus though not as deep at a level as "Kingdom". Novel tried to touch on the cunning & guile aspect as well as court politics of fantasy medieval times but it came out half-baked. Its pretty obvious that the author struggled to...
-Refreshing take on Xuanhuan genre, its somewhat a unique theme, protagonist has the role of a teacher/master instead of the cliche solitary cultivator on a violent path to the peak. Due to his cheat, he is literally the perfect teacher and has a slew of direct, core, half disciples. He also has an alternate disguise or alias as his own fictional Master. With his cheat, he can display high tier...
Pretty standard story for a Xianxia. Our protagonist, Yang Chen, goes back in time to re-do his life. He used to be at the upper hierarchy of the cultivation world but was the ive and benevolent type however that makes him a pushover and the weakest link hence death came to him and those important to him. With his rebirth, he strives to be more cunning and ruthless.
An all round good read...
fact12345 basically sums up most of points of the novel.
My personal take after 400+ chapters, the novel is too heavily riddled with chasing skirts and romance which gets dull after reading so much, trust me you will. Author should spread out the romance/harem rather have frequent bursts of flirting. Fights aren't the novel's strong point too depending how you look at it because they're for the...
The Good:
-Neutral Evil MC. Only out for himself, pure and simple. Sheds no tears for those he kills, whether for profit, sport, experiments or convenience. Has no love of order and holds no illusion that following laws, traditions, or codes would make him any better or more noble. On the other hand, he doesn't have the restless nature or love of conflict that a chaotic evil villain has.
-Cliche...
Author thought of a very unusual concept for this novel. Our MC, Yan Zhaoge is summoned into the world where he is the antagonist. His rivals/enemies are literally the cliche xianxia zero to hero main character we see in every goddamn novel out there. Born into poor family, mortal body, bullied by everyone, childhood sweetheart stolen by Yan Zhaoge but a fortuitous encounter granted him an OP item...
The thing that struck me the most with this novel is the protagonist. None of those shounen crap nor drama/emo phase from a young male lead growing up. MC is an ancient being, millions of years old, he has sent off countless loved ones, experienced numerous trying tribulations and has stood on various peaks of the worlds. He is weary now and on his last leg of his journey to kill to the ends of...
Personally i do enjoy reading TTNH. It feels like a mix of xianxia and wuxia.
What i like about TTNH is that unlike most xianxia novels, it primarily focus on court politics, cunning & guile, stealth, assassinations, scheming & undermining, strategy & tactics and especially subterfuge. Some readers might find this boring as it lacks head on confrontations, hardcore fighting & flowery martial...
Transported to another world novel. MC's soul reincarnates into a body of a cultivator in a wuxia/xianxia setting. Its a different form of reincarnation as his old memories fuse with the new body hence its more of the new body/soul receiving 'enlightenment' in form of memories from the game/earth. Anyways he retains the game skill called 'Item Upgrade' which is one of a kind in this new world. It...
Long story short, its about a player transported to real-life game world and trying to find his way back to our earth.
The long story, when he steps into this new world, it has been fast forwarded couple hundreds of years and also due the transformation from game to reality, lots of changes have taken place. The geography, history, factions and game mechanics are all different. The general...
ISSTH is pretty much like every other Xianxia novels. Being underestimated and ridiculed at the beginning, the journey to become strong, fortuitous encounters that help the MC grow, searching the truth behind the MC's mysterious background, increasingly difficult and vast hordes enemies, MC against the world etc. What makes ISSTH unique though is that the backstory and the story itself which...
Have to say CSG is one of the weaker WN among its genre. Its a story about a man who is at the peak of power in his world, whom died and was reborn into another world. Although having to "restart" his cultivation, he still has memories of his past life including techniques and foundation hence they aid his rise through power. Certain circumstances(offending a bigger faction) forced him into exile...
Magic vs Anti-magic premise. Protagonist has a harem complete with the being "Dense" requirement, he treats them as comrades but the girls treat him as their special one.
Includes tsundere girls, loli who is his weapon, big boobs rabbit girl etc and all of them have a form of traumatic past that in the first few volumes the protagonist will get involved to give them a closure, 1 girl per volume.
P...
Usual reincarnated into a fantasy world but with a twist, rather than sword and magic its piloting mecha via magic. As a fan of mecha, this LN hit the spot for me. Although its pretty much cliche and shounen-ish as reincarnation themed stories go, at least the mecha focus made it unique story. If you hate mecha then this LN might not be for you.
Setting & lore: Its very original imo and i love it....
I was expecting the story to be about an MC being a crouching tiger hidden dragon, an overkill monster in retirement, something different from all the stuff we see nowadays but after a few arcs, it fell victim to the usual shounen cliche tropes.
A few arcs down the line we start to see MC winning battles only by a hair's breathe, the common power leveling progression seen in shounen. Author also...
This novel kinda reminds me of "The Man Picked up by the Gods". Very simple, amateurish writing and a cliche narrative. Has more of a slice of life vibe to it with pretty slow story progression, feels like you're reading MC's diary, no solid goal nor direction. If you like "The Man Picked up by the Gods" or "Death March" then you'll probably like this.
Clearly one of the better Xianxia novels out there. Very mature writing, holds the attention of readers and generous in every aspect of content.
Our MC,Yi Yun was transported into a world of martial arts where strength is everything and the weak are slaves. He does get a sort of powerful ability/ive that helps in his cultivation and he also got lucky to bump into certain individuals who lend a...
Its pretty hard(or in retrospect, easy) to review a LN because the only thing you can fairly judge is the plot and pacing of the story. Vocab, descriptions, command of language is out of the question since, we have to take into translation difficulties (I find it unfair to penalize the fan translators or the author) and unlike manga, it has almost no visuals. Therefore I may sound quite...
This is an amazing novel. But why the low rating? Generally because of how almost half the novel is disappointing. Basically as the title says, the abysmal parts of the novel is during the beginning volumes as well as the ending volumes. Bad start, poor end. The rest of the novel, is perfect.
The beginning few volumes deals with character development and maturity in of emotional and attitude...
To sum it up this is a wet dream for the stereotypical chunni hikikomori otaku who lives in the mom's basement, no offense meant.
Its just bad, really bad, unless this is the kinda story thats up your alley.
Protagonist is basically a Mary Sue. His character lacks depth, one-dimensional. Bland and dull. Disgustingly poor character design.
Even his companions have a more colorful character than him...
Not your average transported to another world theme. Its a far cry from the cliche summoned to another world novel, its about politics and relationships rather than OP MC, tragic story, epic battles, gods & demons, saving the world, nope, none of that nonsense(i do actually love specially crafted cliches btw). I would say it appeals to a certain range of audience only.
So basically the MC...
Title pretty much sums up the plot of this LN.
Satou travels around in the game world solving problems and eliminating demons, evil plots and corrupt officials as well as bring his harem to grind for exp and level up. He normally goes by the name of Satou however he has a couple of aliases he'd use to disguise himself especially for when involved in major demon plots since he is quite overpowered...

Nihei Tsutomu cures my itch for a biomechanical setting with dark nuances and grim undertones, minimal dialog and sketchy outlook like his previous works Blame and Noise. Sidonia no Kishi is quite different, i guess he is trying to appeal to the mainstream market which is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact i think he managed it well. Sidonia no Kishi still retains his earlier style but with a...
I started reading this like 4-5 years ago. Lots of issues with the translation progress. It was a reasonably good read for its time before the onslaught of fantasy cliches.
Overall the story is pretty much generic. So the general idea of the world in this LN is humans living on floating continents protected by a barrier erected by the Tenketsu Palace. They are under threat by monsters that possess...
a nice read... pretty realistic about what you gonna do with that 24hrs left... touching with some, cruel with others... though the setting is a bit stupid, theres no way this system will happen but in a fantasy world only... wish the main character was more involved with the "victims" story... well now that the new counselor has a hidden agenda, things got a bit more interesting and i hope they...
Got recommendations for this manhwa however it ended up being a major disappointment.
Transmigration story with a slight twist. I do like how the setting & premise is quite different where in other manhwa, transmigrators are heros but in this manhwa denizens and transmigrators are enemies. The geopolitical situation is unique in its genre. Also helps that the artwork is good. Character and...
Pretty much the title. Just your average regression manhwa.
Protagonist was a mercenary because he was kicked out of the academy due to being unable to awaken Aura. He learned Ether from his master instead and got stronger(not peak powerhouse though) but died and reincarnated back to when he was a kid. He also acquired a RPG-like system giving him additional powers.
In all honesty, cliche plot and...
